WordPress or Shopify: Which One Actually Fits Your Business

By the BAA team • September 2026

This is one of the most common questions we get on a first call, and the honest answer is: it depends entirely on what your business actually does, not which platform is trendier.

Choose Shopify if you're selling products

If people are buying physical or digital products directly from your site, checkout, payment processing, inventory, shipping calculations, Shopify is built specifically for that from the ground up. Trying to bolt real ecommerce onto a platform that wasn’t built for it usually costs more in the long run, not less.

Choose WordPress if you're a service business or content site

If your site’s job is explaining what you do and getting someone to call, book, or fill out a form, a service business, a local shop, a content or blog-driven site, WordPress (paired with Elementor for real page-building flexibility) gives you more control over structure, content, and SEO without paying for ecommerce infrastructure you’ll never use.

The honest answer we'll actually give you

We build on both, so we’re not steering you toward the one we’d rather build. On a real strategy call, we’ll ask what your business actually does and tell you straight which one fits, even if that means recommending less work for us.
