Somewhere along the way, “professional website” started meaning “five-figure invoice.” It doesn’t have to. Most local service businesses, the landscapers, contractors, staffing agencies, and shops we actually build for, don’t need a custom-coded platform with a six-month build cycle. They need a fast, clean, mobile-first site that makes it obvious what they do and how to reach them.
What actually drives the price up
Big agency quotes usually aren’t paying for better code, they’re paying for account managers, sales layers, and overhead that has nothing to do with your actual site. Strip that out, and a genuinely well-built small business site is a much smaller build than most people assume, especially when it’s built on a platform (WordPress or Shopify) your team can actually maintain afterward instead of a proprietary system that locks you in.
What "fair pricing" actually looks like
We publish real starting prices for our own web design plans, on purpose, starting at $500 for a focused landing-page build. That’s not a teaser rate with hidden fees bolted on later, it’s the real starting point for a real, mobile-responsive, SEO-foundation site with a contact form and Google Maps integration already built in.
The part that actually matters
A cheap site that doesn’t load fast, doesn’t work on a phone, and doesn’t make it obvious how to contact you is expensive at any price. A fairly-priced site built around getting someone to actually call or fill out a form is the whole point. That’s the difference we build around, not the size of the invoice.
